Dozens of films, shorts and at least two TV series have been filmed in various parts of Kauhava.
The films have chiefly covered the Ostrobothnian persona, the history of Finland, the independence and free spirit of our häjy, and our entrepreneurial drive. The best-known TV series filmed in Kauhava are "Hyvien ihmisten kylä" (The Town of Good People) in the 1990s and "Taistelulentäjät" (Fighter Pilots) in 2010, which was filmed at Training Air Wing of the Finnish Air Force.
The city has two digital movie theaters. The Y-Kino theatre in Kauhava presents live broadcasts of world-class opera and ballet productions from London's Covent Gardens. The Magnum theatre in the PowerPark amusement park also shows 5D films.
